The institute treats us as 'foreigners'. All electronic appliances in our apartment have English translation (do we need it?). This washing machine instruction, for example, says it needs 44 more hours to get it done (I can read the Japanese letter 'min' right below 'hours').
主人は日本人なのに「外国人招聘研究員」。アパートの電化製品のスイッチにはほとんど英訳がついています。だけど、この洗濯機、あと「44時間(hours)」かかるんですか・・・(そんなに待てません)。
