大リーグ

It is amazing to know that 550 Major League Baseball games a year are broadcast on TV in Japan and ca. 300 of them are on NHK (the Japanese public broadcasting). Considering that there was none when I left the country 24 years ago, it's a big change. The American (or National) League "West" games are rarely on the air in Charlotteville, so I'm glad I can watch many Seattle Mariners' games (to see Ichiro, precisely speaking) while I'm in Japan.

２４年前に日本を離れた時には、日本人選手が大リーグでこんなに「普通に」活躍するようになろうとは思いもしませんでした。そして日本のテレビで大リーグの試合がこんなに見られるようになろうとは（ＮＨＫだけでも年間約３００試合）！。シャーロッツビルでは西部地区の試合はほとんど見られないので、日本に居る間にイチローの試合をせっせとテレビ観戦して帰ります。
